Richard Avedon

For this set of photos, I was tasked with taking photos that followed the style of popular photographer Richard Avedon. These styles include a square photo and the photo being square. However, the main part of his photography is the amount of emotion that is conveyed without using the rest of your face. For example, a smile can convey emotion quite easily but it is harder trying to keep your face blank and still be able to make the emotions clear.

  1. You did a really great job on this task and I really like the one photo of Declan that doesn't have too many dark colors giving it a lighter and happier feel. I like the addition of the hood to almost give it a more serious and mug shot feel

Composition 3

For this series of photos, I used several techniques such as a symmetry symmetry and balance. Symmetry is when the image is perfectly equal in all ways the left exactly matches the right and vice versa. Asymmetry is when the right does not match the left and vice versa. Balance is when there are two objects of close to equal weights on both sides of the frame.  Asymmetry   Symmetry Balance

Draft 1

For my artist, I chose David Gilliver. He uses little people to stage scenes in everyday life. These scenes can use everyday objects but do not have to as you can see many of my scenes do not involve these things. The background varies although I do like the lightbox much more and I will use the box every time from now on. Experimenting with different backgrounds and trying to employ more everyday objects, not toys. However, the main part of the scene is the interaction that the little people have with something else. This means that any interaction is the goal of the photo but I am going to bring in more things and shoot in the box.

Composition

Triangular composition is a way of organizing a picture in ways that the frame is divided into a triangle. A famous example of this is the Mona Lisa the picture is arranged in a way that the head and shoulders appear to be triangular. In these photos, you should look for elements that hint at being triangular.  The one-thirds composition is when the picture is arranged with the focus being on one-third of the frame while the other two frames are blank or not the main focus. When viewing these images look for the two vacant frames. diagonal composition is when one line or two crosses the frame separating it into two or more sides. This results in the frame tending toward more diagonal and if you squint your eyes the photo appears to move or slide diagonally.
